I like having the pre-cut board for notepads as the factory edges are nice. You can also buy A4 cardboard and cut it in half.

Cutting Mat:
It's a cutting mat, nothing super special about this, but you get two sizes which I found helpful.

This one has to come from overseas, I couldn't find it from an aussie shop. It seems to be the propper padding glue everyone is using, but I've also used PVA glue and Mod podge as other options too.
