If you've had your Wix site a while and you've been around online business groups, you may have heard that Wix is no good for SEO. Fortunately, this is old news and Wix has done some serious improvements from when this was the case.
Setting up SEO on your Wix Website
Starting with the basics - Using Wix SEO Setup Checklist
Every new site should complete the Wix SEO Setup Checklist. It's located on your dashboard > Site & Mobile App > Website & SEO > SEO. This checklist guides you to correct things like page titles, meta descriptions, indexing, mobile view, page content etc. It's also where you can make sure you're connected to Google Search Console. It also lets you know if your images don't have alt text and you pages don't have in and outbound links.

This is a very good place to start if you haven't completed that task already.
Next Level - Using a SEO Program to Run Regular Reports
After you've got all the basics sorted out, you can then use a program with an SEO tool to analyse your site in more detail. Semrush is a great one. I currently use a program from AppSumo: SpiderNow (since I'd rather pay once than ongoing subscriptions).
By running a report regularly you can keep an eye on things and be notified of the slightly more technical things you can do for your SEO. It's also a great way to identify broken links and ensure they get fixed up asap! It also alerts you to weird little things like when you've changed something and all of a sudden your blog author link is a 404.
Keeping content fresh and high quality
Setting up a website is not a "set and forget" kind of deal. You need to show Google that you are a legitimate business with appropriate authority in the space. The more Google knows you and trusts you, the more it will show your page to people who ask it questions that your site can answer.

This is done through having a site that's easy for people to navigate, quick to load and has quality content. If your site is in English and the English language isn't your strong point, enlist someone to proof read it for you.
Targeting the right keywords
Keyword research is a whole other ballgame in and of itself. Knowing what keywords or search terms people are using is key to developing a solid SEO strategy. There are many ways to find keywords and you may need to enlist a professional if you're looking for next level support.

I have a blog here that talks about using your Google Search Console for help.
Other aspects
There's a lot more that's involved and we've only just skimmed the surface of SEO. If you want to learn more about the basics from Google itself, I'd recommend their Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Starter Guide and Maintaining your website's SEO. There's quite a lot that you can do yourself before you need to pay the agencies big bucks.
